1) WAG Your Tail 5K ~ this Saint Patrick's Day, a new 5K race will be happening downtown in North Wilkesboro this weekend. WAG (Wilkes Art Gallery, get it?) is raising money for youth art programs, AND if you register your dog to run or walk with you, the $5 extra fee goes to Humane Society of Wilkes. A great partnership! Visit http://www.wilkesartgallery.org/wag5k to learn more.
2) New African Baskets ~ Just got these fair trade baskets for the shop, and they are so amazingly well-made and colorful. Each one is as unique as the Ghanaian women who make them. They're for a good cause and they're perfect Easter baskets. Proceeds from the sale of these baskets help to provide healthcare, education and financial support to African villagers and their children.
3) Branciforte's ~ I don't feel like "Branchie's" gets enough accolades in town. It's one of the consistently best restaurants my family and friends eat at and we are lucky to have it downtown. Their pizza, their lasagna, their MEATLOAF, yeah, their meatloaf,... and their Fresca salad is my favorite salad, hands down.
4) On A Mission Designs ~ Brooke Horn does amazing screen printing work and her shirt designs are phenomenal. Check out her booth around the corner from ours at Key City Antiques!!
5) Springtime in the South ~ one day it's snow and ice, the next it's 65 degrees and the trees are blooming. NC is a great place to live: we have mountains and oceans, we also have multiple seasons happening at the same time! It's crazy and unpredictable, and it is just one more thing that makes us so unique.
